NEW VIBRATION MONITORS FEATURE EXPLOSION-PROOF HOUSING.
Minnetonka, MN—March 1, 2005—Electro-Sensors, Inc. has introduced the new VS-XP Series Vibration Monitors, featuring a cast aluminum explosion-proof housing that is suitable for use in hazardous locations. The vibration monitors are designed to minimize the risk of catastrophic equipment damage and expensive shutdowns by detecting both under- and over-vibration conditions that often signal impending failure. The compact and affordable VS-XP Series Monitors are ideal for safeguarding fans, blowers, crushers, compressors, chillers, mixers, large motors, gearboxes, turbines, conveyors, pumps, blenders, reciprocating engines and vibratory conveyors.
"The VS-XP's capability for sensing under-vibration as well as over-vibration lets operators generate an alarm for either condition," says Kris Paxton, an Electro-Sensors design engineer. "While over-vibration can indicate wear, under-vibration may indicate the machine has stopped working altogether." Paxton added that the under-vibration mode is particularly useful in applications such as vibratory conveyor systems where the correct amount of vibration is important for proper machine operation.
The VS-XP Series features an adjustable vibration alarm trip-point that can be used for machine shutdown or operator warning. The range of vibration velocities covered by the VS-XP Series is from 0.10 to 26 inches per second rms, with an adjustable set-point delay to prevent false trips, and selectable over- or under-vibration alarm. The VS-XP Series is available with either an SPDT relay output or an NPN output. Power requirements are 24 Vdc at 30 mA.
