Minnetonka, MN—October 23, 2003—Electro-Sensors, Inc. has introduced the SpeedTalker DN Sensor, the first DeviceNet-enabled speed sensor with speed switch functionality. Enclosed in a rugged, explosion-proof housing, the SpeedTalker DN Sensor is designed to operate in demanding, hazardous and industrial environments for the first time providing operating speed along with under-speed and over-speed detection for rotating shafts via DeviceNet.
"The SpeedTalker DN sensor incorporates state-of-the-art sensing and shaft speed analysis for real-time maintenance feedback and machine diagnostics," said Brad Slye, President. "Electro-Sensors is known for the reliability, accuracy and long life of our speed switches in rugged industrial conditions." Slye added, "Now users can easily monitor the speeds of numerous rotating shafts using DeviceNet, better control their process, and anticipate problems before they occur."
The SpeedTalker DN Sensor conforms to ODVA specifications for DeviceNet. It features an "open style" connector, and operates in any DeviceNet network without the need for additional I/O terminals or adaptors. Straightforward to install and configure, the SpeedTalker DN Sensor is housed in a NEMA 4,7,9 enclosure with a plated steel mounting bracket.
