Shaft Speed Sensor Overview
Electro-Sensors offers many shaft speed sensors for virtually any environment. Our Hall-Effect and Magnetoresistive Sensors sense magnetic targets and work with our magnetic pulsers (Discs, Wraps, and Wheels). Our proximity sensors sense ferrous metal targets, including bolt-heads, screws, gearteeth and keyslots. Our speed sensors output shaft speed via PNP, NPN, or 4-20 mA. That data can be used by facilities to monitor machinery and safeguard equipment. Monitoring shaft speed is a fundamental aspect of hazard monitoring and should be utilized by any facility with rotating shafts.
Hall Effect digital speed sensors powered by 5-24 VDC, provide NPN open collector output, have a 1-inch NPT conduit port, and are compatible with a PLC digital I/O. 907 XP (Explosion Proof) sensors are used in applications requiring hazardous location ratings, or in applications where the sensor may be subject to abuse. Bi-Directional models are available (907B XP)

The explosion proof 931 XP Hall Effect sensor provides a square-wave pulse frequency output, NPN open-collector. It is 5-24 VDC powered with zero speed operation and no signal loss. The differentiating features between the 931 XP and the 907 XP are that the 931 XP has slightly smaller body and 1/2 inch NPT conduit port. These Hall Effect sensors work with Electro-Sensors Pulser Discs and Split Collar Pulser Wraps.
Model 916A and 917A Passive Analog Sensors are designed for use with pulse generators that provide magnetic targets, such as Pulser Discs and Split Collar Pulser Wraps.
